Come and Fly with me!

What an experience!

I flew in a single propeller plane together with my colleague, Anthony (the pilot), and the feeling is awesome! Imagine having the birds-eye view how the plane has taken off and how it lands right in front of you!

It is a pity we were not given permission to fly further as the visibility is poor (i.e. less than 5 nautical miles visibility). Nevertheless, we did manage to do a "touch-and-go" at the Senai Airport and it was like a scene from battle scene where we had to fly off for another critical mission........

Flying video showing "Touch-and-go"

The day ended with a sumptuous meal (thanks to a kind lady among us who has given this treat) with other fellow captains followed by "Chendol" at Kulai. Some of them even commented that they should fly to Malacca next week for a meal before flying back!

What can I say..... the lifestyle of a typical pilot......

Zoo Outing with the kids with Down Syndrome

The day started off dimly with slight drizzle in the morning. Luckily the weather turn for the better and we were greeted with sun shine when we reached the Singapore Zoological Garden.

Today's trip were with the kids with Down Syndrome and thanks to the association (DSA), we had a much better knowledge who were they and how we could mingle with the kids when we were bringing them to the Zoo.

Many of us (both the kids and us) were rather sheepish and needed some time to warm up. We manage to break through this with the gift pack and all was fine before we start the Zoo adventure.

The first stop today was at the "Elephant at Asia" where we watched the elephants from Indonesia performed.

These 4 fair ladies (aka elephant) did a wonderful job balancing on wooden planks, painting a picture of flowers, moving heavy logs and they never failed to end with a nice elegent knee bent! Very interesting instead. (It is a MUST watch item in the zoo)

Be warn that those sitting in the center stage may get wet!

2nd part of this outing after lunch is to the Splash Amphitheatre. One amazing thing which occured during the show was that one of our kids volunteered to throw a frisbie to the sea lion! Though she may not have thrown a frisbie before (assuming here), she eventually managed to make it on her 3rd tries! Kudos to you, my girl for your bravery and spirit!

Though one or two of the kids may swing their emotion from very happy to sad and vice vesa (could be within 5mins) during this trip. I enjoyed the trip nevertheless and am glad that many of us has managed to have close interaction with the the kids. The girl in the above picture loved the occasion so much that she kept hugging one of us showing her appreciation and affections towards the care taker!

I hope those who were reading this will not shun away from the kids with Down Syndrome as they are like us and deserve better. To simply put it, they are not disabled but Differently Able!

Southern Ridges - Tree top walk

It's family outing time and we have explored the newly open southern ridges tree top together with the Cheong's (aka Gary) family.

We started off at the Horty Park near Alexandra Road and took a gradual slope towards the bridge. If you are driving, there are sufficient parking space at the Horty Pary for close to 100 cars there (feels like it).

It took us 25mins to reach the 1st rest point (sheltered) before we moved off towards the "Handerson Waves". To our surprise, there are many visitors here but generally it is still easy to move around.

The sky becomes darker and darker and though we initially thought we have missed the rain, it eventually came back on us. Luckily this is towards the end of the trip near Mount Faber.

This trip lasted for ~1hr15mins and being a nature lover, it is a very refreshing experience for me as I am able to be close up to the trees and being able to see the stretched skyline and city views. I surely hope we could spend more time over here during the next visit.

Will share more pictures next time. Adios.
